After our first date, I went Country Swing Dancing (as usual). This was probably my favorite Country Dancing night I've ever had. I took with me my very best friend Sarah (I call her Best Friend most of the time). She doesn't go dancing very often, but she agreed to come with me this time. Probably because I told her that Trevor might be there and I really really wanted her to see how hot he was. :) Well Trevor showed up a little after we did and met Best Friend and asked me to dance. After our nice little dance we meandered back over to where Best Friend was standing, and Trevor in his awesomeness asked her to dance. This immediately won Best Friend's approval, which was very important to me. She absolutely loved him! And she agreed that he was super hot. Like, Jason Statham hot (who happens to be his celebrity look-alike). The night went on and Trevor continued to dance with BOTH of us (because he's just sweet that way).
Now time for the better part of the night. This is partly why this was my favorite dancing night. Since I go dancing quite often, I normally dance with several of the same people. And when new people ask me to dance, I never say no. So I ended up dancing with quite a few creepy guys and quite a few older guys. One of the guys I didn't feel super comfortable around would ask me to dance one time every night (I will refer to him as 'the follower'). This was fine with me, it really was. But I started feeling a lot less comfortable with it when he started asking for my number every time we danced. I did NOT give my number to everyone who asked. This kid also would ask me if I wanted to do lifts while we were dancing. Normally I agree to it, but I definitely did not feel comfortable with this particular guy. For one thing, I was probably stronger than he was (that is not saying much), and he had a slight physical (and I think mental as well) disability. I didn't trust that he could keep me safe doing the lifts he always wanted to try. Anyways, back to the point of the story. I had told Trevor about 'the follower', and had pointed him out. I believe that I also mentioned that I really hoped he wouldn't ask me to dance tonight because he always wants to do lifts and wants my number (I'm too used to being a nice person, I hate to turn people down. It can get exhausting). So, Trevor, in his genius-ness, decided to make sure that I wasn't available to be asked to dance (I was in love with this idea). He took me over to the opposite side of the large dance floor so we could dance and not worry about 'the follower'.
So there we were, enjoying ourselves, cooling off by the fan, and doing more swaying and talking rather than actual dancing. It was easy for me to forget about the rest of the world when I was dancing with Trevor (or when I was around him in general). Next thing I know, I look up, and guess who I see. Yup. 'The Follower'. Standing right there only 5 feet from us. Patiently waiting his turn. I mentioned this to Trevor, and instead of taking the break we had planned on, we continued dancing (actual dancing), and started to move to the other side of the dance floor. We both kept an eye on 'the follower' and watched as he quickly walked around the edge of the floor to catch up with us. Well, that plan had failed. So we continued dancing to the opposite corner of the dance floor. Now we were kitty-corner from him and he didn't follow us. We just enjoyed the rest of our dance. As the song ended we glanced over to see if we could see 'the follower', but he wasn't in the place we last saw him. Feeling a little nervous we glanced around the room until we spotted him. He was running (literally running) across the dance floor towards us. Weaving in between the different couples. At that sight you can't do anything but laugh, and cave. So I danced with him. Just one song, and luckily he didn't ask me for my number. I did have to ask to pass on the lifts though.
So there you have it. Trevor sweetly tried (and failed) to save me from 'the follower'. I still enjoy laughing about it every now and then. And I love remembering that night. Trevor continued to dance with me after that fun event, and we danced until we were the last couple on the dance floor and they had to kick us out. This definitely was my favorite night of Country Swing Dancing. Thanks to Trevor Park. :)
